DAY 1 SINGAPORE – NAIROBI

DAY 2 NAIROBI – LAKE ELMENTEITA

Upon arrival, we will be greeted by our Kenyan driver and guide before setting off for Lake Elementeita, a scenic journey of roughly two to two and a half hours. The lake, whose name means “place of dust,” is a striking soda lake nestled in the Great Rift Valley. Known for its graceful flamingos and remarkable variety of birdlife, it has been recognized as a World Heritage Site for its ecological significance. Upon arrival, we will check in to the lodge and settle in for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 3 LAKE ELMENTEITA – MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

After an early breakfast, we will drive down to the lakeshore for a final view of the flamingos before beginning our journey to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival at the reserve, we will check in to our lodge and enjoy lunch before settling in. The Maasai Mara, together with Tanzania’s Serengeti, forms one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife ecosystems. Its greatest spectacle is the annual wildebeest migration, a breathtaking movement of more than a million animals that follow the rains across the vast plains. The reserve is also home to impressive prides of lions, roaming elephant herds, and abundant wildlife including giraffes, gazelles, and elands. At around 16:00, we will set out on our afternoon game drive. Afterward, we will return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening.

DAY 4 MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

After breakfast, we will embark on a full-day game drive in search of the legendary “Big Five”: the lion, the savannah elephant, the Cape buffalo, the leopard, and the black rhino. Midday, we will pause for lunch at a designated picnic spot before continuing our exploration across the vast plains. In the afternoon, we will visit a Masai Village for a cultural experience, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the Maasai people’s traditions, way of life, and vibrant heritage. Afterwards, we will return to the lodge and spend the evening at leisure.

DAY 5 MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

We will begin the day with breakfast before transferring to the airstrip for our flight to Nairobi. Set along the Nairobi River, the capital is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. On arrival, our driver and guide will meet us and take us to lunch. Afterward, we will visit the Nairobi National Museum, which showcases Kenya’s cultural and natural heritage.

DAY 6 NAIROBI – KIGALI – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will visit the Giraffe Centre, established to protect the vulnerable giraffe species found only in East Africa’s grasslands. We will then transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for our flight to Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali, our safari driver will welcome us and take us to lunch before driving to Volcanoes National Park. Nestled along the slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains and bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, the park is renowned as a sanctuary for Rwanda’s rare mountain gorillas. Regulated treks allow visitors to spend an hour observing these remarkable primates in their natural habitat. From there, we will continue to Musanze in northern Rwanda, a scenic two-hour drive from Kigali through winding roads and rolling hills, before checking in to our lodge.

DAY 7 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (Golden Monkey Trekking)

After an early breakfast, we will transfer to the park headquarters for the Golden Monkey trekking briefing and begin the trek at 08:00. This experience offers a chance to see the endangered Golden Monkeys, with their striking orange fur and playful behavior, in the lush rainforests of the Virunga Mountains. We will return to the lodge around noon for lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla Fund Museum to explore exhibits highlighting over 55 years of gorilla conservation. Dinner will be served at the lodge, where we will spend the night.

DAY 8 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (Gorilla Trekking)

After an early breakfast, we will transfer to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing, where guests are grouped into teams of eight based on fitness, each guided by an experienced guide and two scouts. At 08:00, we will begin our gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park, home to rare mountain gorillas and diverse ecosystems of evergreen and bamboo forests, grasslands, swamps, and heath. Trek times vary depending on the gorillas’ location, but the highlight is spending an hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, rest, and care for their young. After the trek, we will return to the lodge to relax, review photos, and share experiences, followed by lunch, afternoon at leisure, and dinner with an overnight stay at the lodge.

*On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen and hat.

DAY 9 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – KIGALI

We will begin the day with breakfast before checking out of our accommodation and driving back to Kigali. Upon arrival, we will enjoy lunch in the city, followed by a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Established through a partnership between the Kigali City Council and the UK-based Aegis Trust, the centre offers a deeply moving and educational experience, providing insight into the causes and tragedy of the genocide as well as the inspiring story of Rwanda’s recovery and rebuilding.

DAY 10 KIGALI – SINGAPORE

Begin our day with a morning breakfast and check out of our hotel and transfer to lunch. After lunch, we will proceed to Kigali International Airport for our flight back home. It is time to bid farewell to Kenya and travel home with fond memories of the sights, sounds and stories we have collected on this incredible journey.
