ITINERARY
SINGAPORE
DAY 1 SINGAPORE - TUNIS
- Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for our Emirates flight to Tunis (via Dubai)

DAY 2 TUNIS – SIDI BOU SAID – CARTHAGE – KAIROUAN
- Upon arrival, transfer to the picturesque Sidi Bou Said Andalous Village, a blue and white Andalusian village perched on the cliffs overlooking the Bay of Tunis
- Lunch will be at local restaurant.
- Visit to Ennejma Ezzahra (Baron d’Erlanger). It’s a model of successful Neo-Moorish architecture and a palace interlinking the styles handed down by Arabic civilization and those of the beginning of European Art Nouveau
- Explore Carthage (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the capital of ancient Carthaginian Empire
- Visit Byrsa Hill to see the ruins of Roman buildings and Carthage Museum
- See the Tophet, where urns containing the ashes and milk teeth of 8th century BC children have been unearthed.
- Visit Antonine Baths, a huge Roman bath complex on the edge of the Mediterranean.
- Visit the theatre and Punic Port
- Drive to Kairouan for dinner and the night

DAY 3 KAIROUAN - SBEITLA – TOZEUR
- Embark on a city tour of Kairouan, which is also the 4th holiest city of Islam after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. See finest Islamic architecture and the holiest Islamic centre in North Africa
- Visit the Great Mosque, built in 670 AD by the Arab conqueror Sidi Okba
- Visit the Mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi who was one of the Prophet Mohammed's companions.
- Visit the impressive pools at Aghlabites Basins, built in the 9th century for collecting and storing winter rainwater
- Visit a local carpet shop to see the typical craftwork of this region
- After lunch, we will drive approximately 1.5 hours’ to Sbeitla, Sbeitla, the site of the ancient Roman city of Sufetula
- See some of the best preserved Roman temples, houses, forum, baths, theatre and it’s majestic Arc De Triumph erected to the glory of Emperor Diocletian
- Continue a 1.5 hours’ drive to Tozeur
- Check in hotel for dinner and the night

DAY 4 TOZEUR – MOUNTAIN OASES – TOZEUR
(Full day transportation by 4WD – 5pax to one car)
- Early morning, enjoy sunrise at Ong Jemel ‘The neck of the camel’. This place is named after a large rock that is shaped as a camel. Ong Jemel has become a popular tourist spot mainly because it is famous for being ‘Mos Espa’ in the Star Wars films.
- Return to hotel for breakfast.
- Enjoy a day excursion with 4WD to the mountain oases village of Chebika - This ruined village sits on the southern edge of the mountain range overlooking the Chott El Gharsa
- From Chebika , it’s approximately 1 hours’ drive to Tamerza, which is the largest mountain oasis in Tunisia
- Embark on a safari into the mountain oases (where many scenes of the movie “The English Patient” were filmed)
- Next, drives to Mides (Canyons) where you will see an impressive gorge which has been sculpted out of the rock by the river torrents of former ages
- Visit Tozeur oases by horse carriage, next we visit the anicent Medina of Tozeur
- Return to hotel for dinner and the night

DAY 5 TOZEUR - NEFTA - CHOTT EL JERID (SALT LAKE) – DOUZ
- Depart for the remote town of Nefta, a peaceful oasis town and visit La Corbeille (meaning “basket” in French), a palm embroidered “hollow” in the ground.
- Cross Chott El Jerid, the largest salt lake in Tunisia. Most of the year it is a salty and dry marsh with the light reflected from the crystal surface creating mirages, it is also well-known for its “Desert Roses”
- Continue to Douz, the oasis town and the gateway to the Sahara (Every Thursday is a market day where nomads gather for the customary trading and barter of camels, horses, crafts, blankets and typical Berber trinkets)
- Enjoy a camel ride passing over the majestic sand dunes and picturesque Sahara desert
- Dinner and overnight in Douz

DAY 6 DOUZ - MATMATA – KSAR OULED SOLTANE – DJERBA
- Approximately 2 hours’ drive to Matmata (in the region made famous by movie “Star Wars”), the centre of the most extensive number of traditional troglodyte pit home. The Berber people built these simple underground dwellings to escape the extremes of weather and any unwelcome invaders
- Visit a local Berber house and enjoy morning tea
- Continue approximately 3 hours’ drive to Ksar Ouled Soltane, a fortified granary, or “ksar” located in the Tataouine
- Continue approximately 2.5 hours’ to the Island of Djerba, fabled as the “Land of the Lotus Eaters”
- Dinner and overnight in Djerba

DAY 7 DJERBA
- This morning, take a walk in the old medina - Houmt Souk and enjoy the island’s well-preserved traditions and unique architecture
- Next, visit to Guellala – Djerba main pottery centre. Visit one of the workshop and see the master in work
- Visit El Ghriba Synagogue – which is also the oldest in Tunisia (Closed on Friday afternoon & Saturday)
- Afternoon will be free leisure

DAY 8 DJERBA - SFAX - EL JEM – MONASTIR
- Depart to Sfax – a major commercial port and an old city surrounded by parchment-coloured ramparts.
- We will visit a local farm to enjoy a traditional experience. Starts with a welcome music performance, next explore different scenes about the local customs and traditions, cooking and pastries making. You can also try olives picking if the fruit is in season
- After lunch, continue to El Jem and visit the El Jem Roman Amphitheatre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) – the largest and most spectacular Roman amphitheatre in North Africa and the best preserved in the world. It appears better preserved than the one in Rome and certainly has seen far less numbers of tourists over the years
- Continue to Monastir for dinner and the night

DAY 9 MONASTIR – SOUSSE – HAMMAMET
- This morning, visit its imposing fortified Ribat which is built as a defence against hostile ships. It was also one of the filming locations for both the miniseries Jesus of Nazareth and Monty Python’s Life Of Brian
- Continue to Sousse and visit the ancient Medina
- Move on and make a short stop at Port El Kantaoui, a tourist complex with a large artificial harbour for luxury yachts.
- After lunch, continue approximately 1 hour drive to Hammamet for dinner and the night

DAY 10 HAMMAMET – NABEUL – TUNIS
- Depart for the capital of Cap Bon - Nabeul, well known as Tunisia’s handicraft capital, especially pottery
- Visit a citrus orchard near Nabeul
- Continue our journey back to Tunis
- Check into hotel and the rest of the evening will be free at leisure for you to enjoy the hotel facilities
- Dinner will be inside the hotel

DAY 11 TUNIS
- This morning, we will depart for Dougga
- Visit the best preserved Roman ruins in Tunisia which are designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Lunch in local restaurant
- Continue walking tour of the Medina (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Tunis’s historic old town and Arab souk
- Some free time to explore the city on your own

DAY 12 TUNIS - SINGAPORE
- Visit the Bardo Museum. Housed in an 18th century Beylical palace, it was the first museum to be founded in Africa and contains stunning ancient mosaics and relics from all over the country
- Free at leisure for last minute shopping before heading to the airport for your flight back home
- It is time to bid farewell to Tunisia and travel home with fond memories of the sights, sounds, and stories we have collected on this incredible journey
