Journey along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway to Namtso Lake, the world’s highest saltwater lake, with expansive grasslands and glistening waters. Return to Lhasa for a night visit to Potala Palace Square, where the illuminated palace exudes an aura of sacred mystery and ancient Tibetan grandeur.

Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for your flight to Xining. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in and have a good rest.

DAY 2 XINING

Arrive in Xining, an ancient plateau city with a 2,100-year history, historically known as the "Southern Route of the Silk Road" and a key railway gateway to Tibet. Upon arrival, visit the renowned Ta’er Monastery (Kumbum Monastery), one of the six major monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism, celebrated as the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, founder of the Gelug school. The monastery is famed for its exquisite "Three Arts" of Tibetan culture: intricate embroidery, vibrant murals, and delicate butter sculptures.

DAY 3 XINING - QINGHAI

After breakfast, board the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, highest railway in the world, traveling to Lhasa. Special arrangements include a soft sleeper compartment with four people per cabin. The train will follow the ancient Tang-Tibet Road taken by Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty, traversing the Loess Plateau and the Tibetan Plateau, and crossing the boundary between Han and Tibetan cultures. Pass alongside Qinghai Lake, largest inland saltwater lake in China, as it makes its way to Lhasa in Tibet.

DAY 4 QINGHAI RAILWAY – QINGHAI LAKE - LHASA

Spend the entire day traveling to Lhasa on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the highest railway line in the world. Xining – Golmud – Tanggulashan – Amdo – Naqu – Damxung – Lhasa. You will travel along the highest, longest, and most spectacular plateau railway in the world. The route passes by Qinghai Lake, the Kunlun Mountains, the Kekexili region, the Gobi Desert, the source of the Yangtze River, the Tangula Mountains, Cuona Lake, and the Qiangtang Prairie. You will have the chance to view the breathtaking Tibetan plateau scenery and see animals like Tibetan antelope and wild yaks. Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will rest to acclimate to the high-altitude climate. After arriving at the train station, a local guide in Lhasa will greet you with a traditional hada (a ceremonial white scarf) to welcome you to Lhasa.

DAY 5 LHASA

After breakfast, visit the Potala Palace, the world’s highest ancient palace-fortress, which has served since the 7th century as the residence of successive Dalai Lamas and the center of Tibetan political and religious authority. Continue to Jokhang Temple, one of Tibetan Buddhism’s holiest sites with a history of over 1,350 years, revered as the spiritual heart of Lhasa. Stroll along Barkhor Street, the city’s most vibrant pedestrian thoroughfare, where you can explore and shop for handcrafted goods rich in ethnic charm and cultural significance. A special highlight of the day is a visit to the mysterious yellow house of Maji Ami, famed as the legendary secret meeting place of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, and his lover.

DAY 6 LHASA -GYANTSE - SHIGATSE

Today we travel from Lhasa, crossing the 4,900-meter Kambala Snow Mountain to visit Yamdroktso Lake, the world’s highest freshwater lake and a sacred site. Along the way, enjoy views of the Karola Glacier, one of Tibet’s major continental glaciers, before reaching Gyantse, the setting for Valley of the Red River. Visit Palkor Monastery, home to three major Tibetan Buddhist sects and renowned for its intricate murals and carvings, and catch a glimpse of the Zongshan anti-British Ruins before continuing to Shigatse.

SHIGATSE

DAY 7 SHIGATSE - (Approx. 4hrs) LHASA

After breakfast, we will visit the Tashilunpo Monastery, which is the final resting place of Panchen Lama and also one of the 6 major monasteries for Tibetan Yellow Sect. This monastery was built by the first Panchen Lama in 1447 and thereafter became the resident of all the previous Panchen Lama. The world’s tallest Maitreya Buddha statue, which is 28 meters tall, is also enshrined the monastery. We will also see the Stupa-tomb of the Tenth Panchen Lama here. After lunch, pay a visit to local tibetan at your own expenses, return to Lhasa via the Lhasa-Shigatse Expressway.

DAY 8 LHASA - (Approx. 4hrs) NAMTSO LAKE - LHASA

In the morning, depart Lhasa along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, crossing Nagenla Pass to reach Namtso Lake, the world’s highest saltwater lake at 4,718 meters. Spanning 1,920 square kilometers, Namtso dazzles with its crystal-clear waters, lush shores, and the vast Changtang grasslands. After exploring the lake, return to Lhasa, enjoying distant views of the snow-capped Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains and the expansive Tibetan plateau. In the evening, take a night tour of Potala Palace Square, where the illuminated palace radiates a mysterious and majestic aura, echoing the ancient secrets of Tibetan Buddhism.
*In the event that we are unable to visit Namtso Lake due to drastic weather condition, it will be replaced by Derpung Monastery and Past Dalai Lama’s treasured park - Norbulingka Palace.
