Assemble at Changi Airport for our flight to Niigata, Japan via Incheon. Begin your long-awaited vacation.

DAY 2 INCHEON AIRPORT - NIIGATA AIRPORT

Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by your guide before transferring to Niigata, where your journey begins with a visit to Yahiko Shrine, a sacred site with origins more than 2,400 years old and mentioned in the Manyoshu, Japan’s oldest poetry anthology; dedicated to Amenokagoyama no Mikoto, a descendant of the sun goddess Amaterasu, the shrine is also cherished for its blessings in marriage. Continue to the Roadside Station Tsubamesanjo Regional Products Center, located in Japan’s largest metalworking hub, where around 10,000 finely crafted items—ranging from tableware and cutlery to kitchenware, pots, and pans—are showcased and available for purchase.

Next, visit the Hakkaisan Sake Brewery, set in a region renowned for its premium Koshihikari rice and pure mountain waters from the sacred Hakkaisan peak, where you can learn about traditional sake-making and enjoy a tasting of this celebrated local brew. Conclude at the Hachi & Seizo Tashima Museum of Picture Book Art, housed in a former elementary school in the scenic Tokamachi mountains; transformed by locals and author Seizo Tashima, the museum brings the story of the school’s last students and friendly “obake” ghosts to life, offering an interactive, three-dimensional experience that makes visitors feel as if they have stepped inside a living picture book.

Explore Sado Kinzan, the historic gold and silver mine whose relics and exhibits chronicle 400 years of Sado Island’s mining history, offering a fascinating glimpse into the region’s industrial heritage. Then enjoy the unique Taraibune tub-boat ride along the rocky Ogi Coast, a tradition originally developed for "isonegi-ryo" fishing using glass-bottom tubs to collect seafood such as seaweed, abalone, and turban shells; inspired by laundry tubs, these boats have been refined over time into their distinctive circular shape, providing both a cultural experience and a scenic adventure on the water.

DAY 5 NIIGATA (NAGAOKA) - NAGANO

Begin your visit at Kiyotsu Gorge, one of Japan’s Three Great Gorges, where towering stone cliffs rise dramatically on either side of a V-shaped river, creating a striking and dynamic natural landscape. Continue to Takada Castle Site Park for a photo stop, where the reconstructed third story of the Edo-period castle offers panoramic views of the Takada Plain, especially picturesque during the early April sakura season. Conclude in the charming town of Obuse in northern Nagano, known for its scenic town center and as the later residence of the renowned Edo-period woodblock artist Hokusai, who spent his final years here under the patronage of Takai Kozan, a wealthy local merchant and art enthusiast.

DAY 8 IZU PENINSULA - YOKOHAMA
