  • Upon arrival, meet & greet by guide & transfer to JR Hakata Station. After lunch, take the shinkansen from Hakata Station to Shin-Yamaguchi Station.
  • Yanai Goldfish Lantern DIY – The town is famous for its production of goldfish lanterns since it used to be a fishing village. With a colorful body in red and white, magnificent black eyes and a funny face, the ”Goldfish lanterns” are popular among children and adults!
  • Incense Bookmark (Fumiko) DIY – is a scent bag made of Japanese paper to put fragrance on letters. It is said that the first fumiko was made in the Heian period (794-1185) when people burned their own fragrance on their letters.
  • Kintaikyo Bridge – Has been Iwakuni’s most distinguished landmark and a subject of admiration for hundreds of years. The elegant, wooden bridge makes five bold arches onto massive stone pillars as it crosses over the Nishiki River.

Day 3.

  • Akiyishidai Plateau – The vast lands of the Akiyoshidai Plateau are dotted with limestone pinnacles, presenting a landscape rarely seen in Japan. The plateau was a coral reef an estimated 300 million years ago, and the karst topography that we see today is the result of the gradual dissolution of limestone by rain through the years.
  • Akiyoshido Cave – The massive limestone cave has a total length of about nine kilometers, of which one kilometer is open to the public. The cave is spacious and easy to navigate, with ample lighting, paved paths and leveled steps.
  • Tsunoshima Ohashi Bridge – was open in 2000 and known as one of the longest (1780m) free bridge to islands. The bridge and the blue Amagase sea perfectly matches as a landscape. It will be not too long before this place becomes the best landscape spot of North Nagato coast.
  • Motonosumi Shrine – is a shrine along the coast of the Sea of Japan. In recent years, the shrine has gained popularity due to its photogenic qualities and scenic location.
